Benjamin Coria is a rare talent among the crowded community of up-and-coming composers. A trained pianist, orchestrator and composer, Ben holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music composition. He uses his talents to evoke the complex emotions so vital to multimedia, such as film, television and video games.
While a student, Ben worked under such luminaries as Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins, Anchor Man), Alf Clausen (The Simpsons), Sean Callery (24), Adam Fields (Dawson's Creek) and Christopher Guardino (orchestrator for Brüno, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou).
Ben's work is both eclectic and polished. He has scored music for a documentary on Haiti; short live-action dramas, including Running Dragon, winner of the 2008 Poppy Jasper Film Festival; animated shorts, most notably for Scatterbrain, Inc.; commercials for websites like GoAnimate.com; and an independant kung fu feature. He has performed as a pianist in the concert hall and on all his own recordings. He has also provided orchestration and music preparation services for large budget features like Brüno. In addition to his membership with ASCAP, Ben was selected in 2009 to participate in the Society of Composers and Lyricists' Mentor Program.
In addition to composing, Ben holds posititions at two distinguished institutions, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, where he directs a large chamber ensemble, a band, and teaches piano and theory.
